Secwépemc Child and Family Services Agency
The SCFSA guardianship team works with children in care to help build connections to their culture, families and communities.
Connecting youth with numerous support networks once they transition out of care to ensure they have the life skills they need to succeed in life, is a big focus for our team.
The guardianship team works with children and families until the child reaches the age of 19 or until there is a permanency plan implemented. Permanency plans usually include children returning to their parents or other legal guardians, under a transfer of custody or a formal adoption.
Additionally, after a child turns 19 years of age, they have an opportunity to continue to receive services if they are attending a school or completing a rehabilitative treatment program. These services are meant to assist the youth in becoming self-sufficient.
